Xeomin vs Botox

Xeomin vs Botox

Want to reduce the signs of aging, such as wrinkles, lines, and sagging skin?

Have you tried every anti-aging and beauty product under the sun to get rid of fine lines, creases, and wrinkles? If you’ve run out of options and you’re still struggling with erasing the signs of aging, many people turn to injectables, including Botox and Xeomin.

Innovations Medical offers Xeomin and Botox injections to patients who want beautiful and youthful-looking skin. Due to some similarities, the Xeomin procedure is often compared to Botox, but there are many key differences. To learn more, and make an informed decision about which procedure is right for your needs, we’re happy to share the following overview.

What is Xeomin?

Xeomin is a pure form of the same bacteria, clostridium botulinum, that Botox is derived from. In a cosmetic procedure, Xeomin can very effectively reduce the appearance and occurrence of fine lines and wrinkles between the eyebrows, around the eyes, and on the forehead. Other uses include treatment of cervical dystonia, a condition that causes the neck muscles to contract involuntarily, as well as blepharospasm, which is the involuntary tight closure of the eyelids.

How Does Xeomin Work?

Xeomin works by temporarily relaxing the muscles of the face which are most responsible for causing wrinkles and creases to develop. Relaxing these muscles means reducing the risk of developing signs of aging. Xeomin can also help treat sagging and drooping skin, two consequences of aging and changes in skin quality.

What is Botox?

Botox is the name of an injectable drug which is derived from the bacteria clostridium botulinum. Although this bacteria can cause illness in large amounts, smaller doses can be highly effective in creating a wide range of health issues, including cervical dystonia, Blepharospasm, migraines, and overactive bladders. Botox is also used in cosmetic procedures to smooth out wrinkles.

How Does Botox Work?

An injection of Botox works by paralyzing specific muscles and/or blocking nerves to create a relaxation response and smooth wrinkles and fine lines. Botox procedures are typically effective for a range of three to six months depending on the procedure, dosage, and individual results.

Xeomin vs Botox

Xeomin is similar to Botox and other endotoxins, but it is a pure form of the protein botulinum toxin type A. There are no additives in Xeomin, which means less risk that your body will react to or reject Xeomin compared to other endotoxins. Less chance of reaction means better results and better skin for you.

Like Botox, Xeomin injections are a minimally invasive procedure. It takes just a few minutes and can be performed right at our Innovations Medical clinics. There is little-to-no downtime after the procedure. Some patients may experience redness, bruising, or swelling at the injection site, but these effects usually subside quickly.

One particular advantage of Xeomin is a reduction in additives compared to Botox, leading to the potential for less antibodies and treatment resistance over the course of multiple injections.

For many patients, Botox has been shown to be slightly more effective for smoothing out forehead lines and crow’s feet around the eyes compared to Xeomin, although individual results may vary.

Cost Differences of Xeomin versus Botox

The wider range of treatment applications and formulations can increase the average cost of Botox compared to Xeomin. According to independent price aggregator Realself, the average cost of a Botox injection is $550 compared to $425 for Xeomin.

Innovations Medical has a wide range of scheduling and financing options and we are committed to creating a treatment plan for unsightly wrinkles and lines that can meet almost any budget.

When Will I See the Results of Xeomin?

Like Botox, most patients see the results of their Xeomin injections within a week of their treatment.

How Long Does Xeomin Last?

On average, the results last between three and six months. One of the biggest advantages of Xeomin is decreased resistance to treatment over prolonged periods. Patients who have stopped responding to Botox injections for any reason often see positive results from Xeomin.
