When it comes to cosmetic enhancements, the possibilities can feel overwhelming. You have probably heard about a celebrity getting a procedure done. Or maybe one of your neighbors suddenly looks shapelier and more confident. But, short of traditional methods — such as liposuction — it can be confusing to figure out what each of the alternatives entails. Such is the case with newer methods, such as tickle lipo and Coolsculpting. What’s involved in each of them? And, how do you know which one is best for you?
What is Tickle Lipo?
Tickle Lipo is a procedure that removes unwanted fat in order to sculpt the body into the desired shape. It is minimally invasive and it’s approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It’s an ideal solution to reshape parts of the body that have failed to transform through diet and exercise.
One of the main characteristics of this type of cosmetic enhancement is that since it only requires a small incision, it involves local anesthesia instead of going under general anesthesia. In order to perform the procedure, the doctor applies a numbing agent on the area to be worked on. The medical provider then uses a vibrating cannula that’s inserted through small incisions to remove excess fat from the body. During this process, the patient can often feel a tickling sensation — which is why the procedure is called Tickle Lipo.
Benefits of Tickle Lipo
In addition to only requiring local anesthesia for the procedure, there are other benefits that make Tickle Lipo more desirable over other types of cosmetic enhancements. These include:
- Results are visible within six months
- You can have multiple body parts contoured on the same day
- Being able to resume your regular life routine within days
What is Coolsculpting?
Coolsculpting — also known as cryolipolysis — is another FDA-approved, minimally-invasive procedure to reshape your body. It consists of freezing fat cells, which are then discarded from the body through the liver. And, just as with Tickle Lipo, you are awake during the procedure. Therefore, you will feel sensations of pulling, tugging, intense cold, and/or mild pinching as your doctor performs the procedure. Unlike Tickle Lipo, it can take months for you to be able to notice its full results.
After the procedure is completed, you’ll notice redness, swelling, and bruising on the treated body parts, and may also experience aches and/or skin sensitivity. Generally, the discomfort ranges from mild to moderate. And, once all the frozen fat cells have been discarded by the body, you’ll notice up to one inch of reduction in size around the impacted body part. Occasionally, patients may need a follow-up visit to achieve the desired results.
Benefits of Coolsculpting
- It’s minimally invasive
- It doesn’t require incisions
- Requires no recovery time
- You can resume your regular activities immediately
Who’s an ideal candidate for Tickle Lipo or Coolsculpting?
Anyone who’s considering cosmetic enhancements should have realistic expectations. These types of procedures are designed to help you achieve your desired shape — which means it’s crucial you are of sound mental health and have no history with eating disorders. You also have to be willing to implement long-term lifestyle changes — such as healthy eating and regular exercise to be able to maintain the results.
It’s also essential to be aware of the fact that neither of these procedures exists to treat obesity. They are designed to remove several inches of excess fat. Therefore, you should be close to your ideal body weight when considering these cosmetic enhancements.
In addition, certain underlying medical conditions may make it difficult to undergo these cosmetic enhancements. Talk with your doctor if you have uncontrolled diabetes, hernias, cryoglobulinemia, paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria, or cold agglutinin disease.
