A Brazilian Butt Lift is the fastest-growing cosmetic procedure in the United States. That’s because the procedure not only gives patients long-lasting results through a minimally invasive, non-surgical procedure, but the recovery period for this kind of butt augmentation is quicker than other options. This translates to results that patients feel great about in a shorter amount of time. But, a quick recovery isn’t given. You’ll need to follow these tips if you want optimal results.
Who is a candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift procedure?
Also called a BBL, the Brazilian Butt Lift is an ideal procedure for patients who are looking to boost their booty without using buttock implants. At Innovations Medical, our BBL procedure uses fat harvested from other areas of the body to give your booty a plump and more desirable shape. As such, you’ll need to have a good skin tone in the hips and buttocks and adequate fat from a harvest site.
Benefits of a Brazilian Butt Lift
Whether you’ve recently lost weight and would like to add contour to your body or you’re simply looking to have a fuller buttock area, a BBL is a non-invasive surgical solution. Along with giving you a behind you can feel proud of, a Brazilian Butt Lift offers the following:
- Safe treatment to enhance your booty
- A way to slim down troubled areas
- More natural-looking results
- A way to proportion your entire body
The Top 7 BBL Recovery Tips
The recovery period for this kind of buttock augmentation is really pretty quick. But, to ensure optimal results, you may need to do some additional things. The most important steps include:
1. Prepare for Post-Op
You should expect to have some swelling after the procedure. Typically, swelling goes away within about four weeks. Depending on the area of liposuction, you may have bruising. Some patients report temporary numbness at the liposuction site, depending on the liposuction procedure used. This swelling may prevent you from moving around quickly, so make sure you make arrangements before your procedure and move essentials to the ground floor if you live in a multi-floor household.
2. Compression Is Key
After your procedure, you will be placed in a compression garment. Wearing the garment is highly encouraged because it helps your body reduce swelling caused by tumescent fluid that was used to numb the site of liposuction. You will most likely only have to wear the garment for a few days. But, you may want to wear the garment for as long as it is comfortable to speed up the reduction of swelling.
3. Eat a Healthy Diet
Eating nutrient-rich foods can make all the difference in your recovery. Not only will it help you keep your weight stable, but certain foods can also promote healing. Make sure to add healthy fats and greens to your diet, including:
- Fish
- Avocado
- Fresh fruits
- Vegetables
- Lean protein — such as chicken and salmon
- Spinach, kale, and other leafy greens
4. Warm Back Up to Working Out
You can expect to return to your normal activities within one day of your procedure – and you should. Patients are encouraged to walk in order to help reduce swelling. Don’t worry about how many steps you’re getting in, but instead, just focus on getting up and moving for about 10 to 20 minutes a few times per day.
You should not run or do any other kind of strenuous exercise that works out your buttocks — such as squats or kickboxing — for two weeks after your procedure to allow the transferred fat cells a chance to stabilize. Once you’ve been cleared by a doctor, you can slowly get back to your regular workout routine.
5. Stay Hydrated
The liposuction portion of the BBL procedure can be dehydrating for many patients. Be sure to drink water after the procedure to rehydrate and keep your cells healthy. Staying hydrated will also help flush out any remaining tumescent fluid and further reduce swelling.
6. Follow Up
After your procedure, you’ll be given a list of instructions to ensure your recovery goes smoothly. This includes a written reminder of your next follow-up appointment. Your post-op check-ups ensure you’re healing, there are no complications, and everything looks good.
7. Call About Issues
If you notice that incisions aren’t healing properly, are hot to the touch, or appear infected, call your doctor immediately. While a BBL treatment is low risk, it’s not risk-free. You can eliminate many of these risks by closely following the instructions you were given after your treatment. And, if you have any additional questions while you’re recovering, call your doctor. Our team at Innovations Medical is here to help ease your mind and put you on the quickest path to recovery.
