Learn About Laser Skin Rejuvenation

shutterstock_394950871Considering Fraxel laser skin rejuvenation? You’re making a great choice – Fraxel is an excellent way to freshen your face, and we know that you will love your results. Before you begin your treatment, read on to learn more about what to expect and how you can maximize your results.

Determining If Fraxel Is Right for You

If you’re considering Fraxel laser treatment, the first thing you should do is schedule a consultation with Dr. Johnson to determine if you are a good candidate for this treatment. If you’ve undergone or are currently undergoing Accutane treatment, using skin care products with retinol or antibiotics, or have a proclivity for severe scarring, Fraxel may not be right for you.

The ideal Fraxel laser candidates want to improve their skin quality and texture with minimal discomfort and downtime.

Before Your Fraxel Procedure, We Suggest You …

Avoid medications and skin care products that make your skin sensitive to the sun. These kinds of medications include some antibiotics and products that contain retinol or vitamin A. We also suggest that you avoid sun exposure for at least two to three weeks before your Fraxel treatment – we can’t do Fraxel if you have a sunburn.

Also, let us know if you have ever experienced a cold sore. If you are currently experiencing a cold sore outbreak, you may have to put off your procedure. Very rarely, Fraxel can cause cold sores to develop in areas of previous breakouts.

You Can Prepare for After Your Fraxel Procedure By …

Placing ice packs on your face to soothe the treated area.
Lying down with your head elevated to reduce the chance of swelling.
Staying hydrated to reduce excess fluid. Be sure to avoid alcohol and caffeinated beverages.
Avoiding harsh skin care products, acne treatments and exfoliation for two to three weeks.
Using a quality moisturizer and wearing a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 if you must go outside.
