Don’t Let ‘Moobs’ Stand in the Way of Summer Fun

shutterstock_404628010Summer has definitely hit in Dallas. Time to crank up the air conditioning and jump in the pool. But do you hesitate taking off your shirt and diving into summer fun because you have “moobs,” also known as man boobs? If you’re sweating and struggling with enlarged male breast tissue, suffer no longer. Dr. Bill Johnson treats men with enlarged breast tissue at Innovations.

What Causes Moobs?

Moobs, medically known as gynecomastia, are caused by a number of conditions, the most common of which is weight gain. Some men are able to diet and exercise to eliminate moobs that develop as a result of weight gain, but others are stuck with enlarged tissue because fat in this area can be stubborn and refuse to tone. Gynecomastia affects 40 percent of men in America.

Another reason for the condition is changes in hormones. These changes can happen as a result of puberty, and usually resolve within a few years. Hormonal changes can also happen during midlife, as testosterone decreases. Moobs that develop in these circumstances don’t go away with diet and exercise.

Some researchers also believe that the condition can be caused by using marijuana. This is because the main ingredient of the drug, known as THC, interferes with the hormone levels of the body. These moobs do not go away on their own.

Phytoestrogens of some herbs and plants used in shampoo and other personal care products have also been linked to the development of gynecomastia in teen boys.

What Can I Do About My Moobs?

If a healthy diet and exercise aren’t making a difference, and you are frustrated or self-conscious about your appearance, it’s time to call in a professional for a male breast-reduction procedure. Dr. Johnson uses SmartLipo to remove the stubborn fat and unwanted breast tissue. Good candidates for the procedure are in good health, non-smoking, and are at a healthy weight.

The Moob-ectomy (or Male Breast Reduction) Procedure

You are awake throughout the entire male breast-reduction procedure, but you are numbed in the treatment area. The entire procedure takes only about an hour, and because you are awake during your liposuction, the recovery after the procedure is lessened.

After the tissue is removed, the body’s healing response is triggered. One part of this response is to increase the production of collagen, which tightens the skin. This is an added benefit that leaves you with a more defined final result. After your procedure, you will be able to confidently take your shirt off. Stay cool this summer by having a male breast reduction. Call Dr. Johnson today to schedule your consultation at 214-347-8667.
