COPD Stem Cell Treatment – How Does It Work?

Many of us have heard of stem cells, but what are they, where do they come from and why all the excitement? Dr. Johnson of Innovations Medical explains everything you need to know about stem cells.

Dr. Johnson explains that if you cut a finger, the cells that are damaged release chemical messengers to call other cells in to do the healing and stimulate the stem cells in the area that produce the new growth. All the healing is done by stem cells and if we could harness that, we could cause healing for injuries and diseases. The fascinating features of stem cells are that you can make more stem cells from one cell and it can also become any type of cell. By adding more stem cells to the injury, we can repair the damage.

Dr. Johnson is investigating stem cells use in the following types of disorders: worn out joints, arthritis in the knees, hips, shoulders, osteoarthritis, lung disease like COPD, neurologic diseases, Parkinson’s disease, urologic disorders including interstitial cystitis and erectile dysfunction.
