Are Wrinkles a Sign of a More Serious Health Issue?
Concerned about wrinkles? There may be a reason to worry about lines and creases beyond how they affect your appearance. New research presented at the European Society of Cardiology's annual meeting shows a potential link between wrinkles and cardiovascular disease.

Specifically, the heart health researchers are concerned about the connection between deep forehead wrinkles and a higher risk of dying from a heart condition.

This new research may make identifying individuals living with cardiovascular disease, or CVD, a lot easier and less invasive.

Battle Eye Wrinkles With These Procedures

Battle Eye Wrinkles With These Procedures

Wrinkles around the eyes are usually one of the earliest indicators that the aging process has begun. The development of these frustrating fine lines is also a result of smoking, prolonged sun exposure, genetics and other lifestyle factors. Whatever the cause, these tiny wrinkles and fine lines can make you feel self-conscious about your appearance and make you look older. You may be tempted to temporarily cover them with makeup or over-the-counter eye creams. But if you’re tired of temporary fixes, you can find more permanent solutions for eye wrinkles at Innovations Medical.

Botox. Botox is one of the best ways to treat wrinkles around the eyes because it weakens the muscles of the face that contribute to the development of wrinkles from moving. Weakening the muscles helps to make the fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes disappear. Many people see the results of their Botox procedure very quickly. Botox lasts between three and six months for most people.

Fraxel Laser. Fraxel laser therapy is also an excellent option to erase lines and wrinkles around the eyes. Fraxel laser works by stimulating new skin growth. The new skin pushes out old skin and accelerates the production of collagen. This increased production of collagen has a skin tightening effect which smooths out wrinkles. Fraxel laser therapy has little to no downtime and is perfect for targeting specific areas of the face and body. Results of Fraxel laser therapy last about two to four years.

Minimally Invasive Procedures are Popular for Many

Minimally Invasive Procedures are Popular for Many

Minimally invasive cosmetic procedures are growing in popularity, according to statistics recorded by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Minimally invasive procedures increased by 180 percent between 2000 and 2016, while invasive procedures, like surgeries, decreased by 6 percent over the same time period. Innovations Medical offers many minimally invasive cosmetic procedures to patients looking to reshape their body or freshen their face.

What Does Minimally Invasive Mean?
Minimally invasive cosmetic procedures minimize or eliminate the need to make incisions in the skin. Many minimally invasive procedures use only needles instead of scalpels to treat patients or require only tiny incisions (1/4 inch or less). Some types of minimally invasive procedures may use imaging tools to guide physicians during procedures.

Botulinum Toxins: Increasing in Popularity for Men

Botulinum Toxins: Increasing in Popularity for Men

Botulinum toxin injections are gaining popularity with men, according to new statistics from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. These injections are commonly known by their brand names of Botox, Dysport and Xeomin. The total number of botulinum toxin injections for men totaled 453,281 last year, per the ASAPS. This number equaled 9.9 percent of the total procedures performed on both sexes in 2016 and has increased 15 percent since 2000.

Motivations for men to get these injections include desires to look younger in order to stay competitive in the workplace and attract mates. The majority of men seeking this aesthetic procedure is between 35 and 65 years old. Sixty-nine percent of male cosmetic procedures also fell into this age group.

Most of the injections occur in the brow line or around the eyes in order to temporarily paralyze the muscles that allow the face to make movements that cause the signs of aging to occur. Repetitive movements or expressions over time like squinting or laughing can lead to the development of crow’s feet and laugh lines. These things cause people to look older than they are- which for many individuals is a cause of concern.
